About an hour from Venice by vaporetto … Burano is best known for it’s fine lacemaking – though I arrived toward the end of the day and spied not a single tatter tatting. Fisherman were hosing down the last of the day’s market. A bit like Venice-ultra-lite, so much like a fairy tale. These days the young have mostly left and it is a bit of a retirement community for Venetians. Sigh… if only…
