Cill Chriosd

with 5 comments

Driving down the foggy one lane B roads of the Isle of Skye Cill Chriosd was a faint outline in the mist. The closer I got, the less I could see. As I stood there – the mist lifted, like a stage curtain, unveiling the ruins of the church built sometime in the 1400s and its ramshackle cemetery, which was still accepting locals well into the 1970s.

I explored, photographed, stood with my eyes closed and listened intently. When I opened them the mist had descended – as if to say I’d had enough – be on my way.
