I sometimes think I go on about my idyllic life in the bush a little too much… and this picture is so very idyllic… However… these are my kitchen windows… living in the woods, the stormy windy, tree pollen, bush goo and spider web woods (not to mention the wetas that look like naked tarantulas and the wood roaches that look an awful lot like drunk cockroaches with beer bellies) they get very dirty. And someone has to clean them.

That someone is me. I spent today, the most perfect day (except for the wee storm that blew through around 4pm) washing windows – inside and out. 8 huge windows in the kitchen and 15 in the lounge… in the end, they sparkled. Of course I had to take a photo.

Waterfront at night

I feel a little guilty putting up what is essentially just a pretty night-time reflection shot – but it’s been a busy time and I am so pleased with the shots  I got on Monday night – not that they are technically perfect, more that I am discovering the capabilities of the Canon 5D Mark II camera… This is really just me walking down the footpath overlooking the harbour and clicking away – no tripod or even time to compose… I’m pretty sure I’ve dreamed of this. But then I sometimes get this little sense of panic – I mean… the camera is so good – what is there for me to do once the clicking is complete?

Almost feel like I should apologise for another monkey shot… In the west, my sign is Taurus the bull and wherever I go they mosey on over and wanna have a cuddle. According to the Chinese calendar, I am a monkey, and I suppose that might be as good an explanation as any for my attraction to them.

This guy on the other hand, had a singular attraction – to himself. No, he is not drinking – if he were there would be serious ripples on the surface of the water – here, I think the snorted a wee bit as he approached the unspeakable beauty reflected back at him. Sigh… and he did not care a whit that I was so close by… I probably could have sat on the rock behind him – as long as I did the appropriate amount of billing and cooing…

Of course, he rather IS a beauty – look at that gorgeous, gorgeous tail!
