Went to the Dunedin Botanical Gardens today. Saw lots of very interesting unusual plants. Ended up following this bee around as he flied from flower to flower. Giving the new macro lens a workout… Oh and I saw and did lots of other things, too. But here you go.

Sin City
Actually… I just love the way this shot turned out… Darlinghurst Road in Kings Cross, Sydney. I’ve grown weary of vanishing point shots – all those piers jutting out into the water (for godssakes, never pierce he horizon!) But then I saw this – why it’s all the deadly sins your gramma warned you aboutContinue reading “Sin City”
Cute, Cuddly Koala
Yeah, yeah… I know that any shot of a cute, cuddly adorable koala is a cheap shot. But they really ARE cute, cuddly and adorable. And this is MY cute, cuddly and adorable koala, which makes him special. Note: the laptop I am using on this trip has decided that T’s are an optional letterContinue reading “Cute, Cuddly Koala”
Sun worshipper
Currently at sea – a blustery day, though I’ve got the ranch slider to the balcony open just cos I can… Hi Melbourne yesterday though it was mostly with my Visa (card)… but came upon his cow up a tree. No explanation was given, and I guess, if you need to ask, you don’ deserve to know…
Maori Bay sunset
One of those places where humans definitely do not belong and for that matter are not particularly welcomed. The surf is fierce, the bird life even fiercer if you should happen to stop and set up your tripod a little to close. I must go back soon. The first time in a place like thisContinue reading “Maori Bay sunset”
Nasty thing
Funny how nasty is all in how you define it… back in the day, when I lived in upstate New York, I planted nasturtiums in the garden, loved and watered them and weeded out those things that might have interfered with them. My youngest child, a keen gardener almost from the womb, was especiallyContinue reading “Nasty thing”
Unemboweled?
I don’t know how else to describe this tree root. The tree above is hale and strong, and yet these secret, sacred parts are all exposed, so anyone can see them. I can touch them with my prying eyes. I’m pretty sure we are just not supposed to know the details of the underground livesContinue reading “Unemboweled?”
Oakley Creek Reflection 2 & 3
The more I look at these photos, the more I think Oakley Creek might be one of Auckland’s secret wonders… it manages to ramble through a lot of suburbia, yet I spotted only a couple of houses through the bush. It’s the perfect foil for a cerulean sky – the sort we get as aContinue reading “Oakley Creek Reflection 2 & 3”
Oakley Creek Bridge
Gotta love a bridge in the middle of nowhere. It’s coming from nowhere and going to nowhere. It’s nowhere all around… but a rather nice place to be…
Oakley Creek Walkway Reflection1
There have been a number of articles in the local papers lately about one of Auckland’s great undiscovered treasures – The Oakley Creek Walkway, which follows along Oakley Creek and has a nice little waterfall. It was a perfect Saturday, so the husband I packed up our gear and headed down the road toward theContinue reading “Oakley Creek Walkway Reflection1”
