Did a bit of street photography today – at the Auckland Buskers Festival. Now you would think that these buskers, from all over the world, performing an array of acrobatics, contortion and general street theatre would hold my attention. But no – most of what they did was yack, yack, yack and prance around doingContinue reading “Yellow Man”
Huddled together to keep warm. It was a time of hope, when no matter how bad it was, the future was all ahead. And that was so so very long ago. There’s not much future left. Everyone survived. Some did well, some not so much. Huddling together just isn’t done anymore.
It was perfectly grey, all shades of grey – grey clouds, grey water, grey breakers. No sunset at all. And then, just as we were packing up to go home the clouds parted just a bit. Just enough. Made my day.

Actually… it occurs to me that while this photoContinue reading “Polarising Day on the Beach”
It’s been a funny start to the year, not the way I envisioned it at all. It’s just gone its own way. Hope I can get it back on track…
There’s a bug going round the office. Kinda big, kinda scary – with long front feelers and a rather long body. Shot this with a macro lens, so it is probably 2-3 times life size here… Anyone know what it is??? There are a million bugs in the naked bush. And sooner or later, theyContinue reading “Office Bug”
I think if someone who knew about such things were to analyse my current state of mind, they would probably suggest that I am yearning for some kind of freedom that eludes me. I can’t recall another time in my life when I was so obsessed with birds. I’m no ornithologist – but I amContinue reading “Yellow crested cockatoo”
