Muriwai Twilight

Okay – perhaps it was not as grey as I declared it was yesterday… but you can’t argue that there is no absence of warmth here… those waters were fierce and the wind was wild. The sky is deceptively calm as the gannets, seagulls and terns swooped in and out so fast, they don’t even show up on this long exposure…

I wish they were there. Or maybe a boat. Or a whale spouting off in the distance. You can never find a whale when you need one, can you?

A break in the clouds

Muriwai Sunset

It was perfectly grey, all shades of grey – grey clouds, grey water, grey breakers. No sunset at all. And then, just as we were packing up to go home the clouds parted just a bit. Just enough.

Made my day.

Black Hole

with 12 comments

Yes – I’ve discovered a black hole just down the way at Muriwai Beach… Yeah, I’ve got to get back there soon and get a hell of a lot closer – see what’s really going on. Hard to get a sense of perspective, but that hole is at least a couple of metres across and shooting geysers 3-4 metres high. Someone fell in a couple of months ago (epic fail!) and was lucky to be alive by the time rescue was able to get to him.

Aubergine Dream

with 4 comments

This enchanting aubergine (aka eggplant) man stands along the Beach in lovely Puerta Vallarta Mexico, which is surely a corner of heaven that fell from the sky. (Note, in French, the word for heaven is auberge, so it’s all wound up on itself.)

Today I closed on the purchase of a small communications company – I am feeling rather aubergine about it all…
