Had another steampunk adventure this past weekend with north island steampunks, having a picnic at beautiful Shakespear Regional Park on the Whangaparoa Peninsula. It was a perfect day in a perfect location. Perfect for all sorts of mischief, and more than a wee bit of mayhem… Little Bo Peep seems a bit under the weather,Continue reading “The lazy day adventure of Little Bo Peep”

Muriwai Beach
Muriwai is one of my favourite places on the planet… It’s beauty and fierceness are indescribable. Every time I am there, I am shocked by it and as I leave I am planning my next trip. It’s only an hour from home, so it’s not that difficult. The seabirds are incredible, here are twoContinue reading “Muriwai Beach”
Virtual bouquet
Beautiful late spring day. Had lunch in the village with a friend and snapped these as I walked home. Sent them to her as a virtual bouquet, but thought I’d share them with you, too.
The dock of the pond
Nice little dock, no boat in sight. Nice reflection. Got a little closer, like how I can see the stuff growing from the bottom Thought I’d walk out to the edge. Got grabbed by these willow branches… kinda spooky…
Steampunk Shootout!

Steampunks Waiting
What I have been up to… it’s been full on. I love it! I think this is what I was meant to do!

Going to Church
Unexpectedly came up this tiny little church near Awhitu Central, on our way to the Manukau Head Lighthouse this past weekend. Thought we’d stop and take a few photos. I think God would like it here. These seat cushions are all hand-made, one of a kind. The little blankets you see over the pews areContinue reading “Going to Church”
‘Tis Matariki!
Matariki – aka the Maori New Year – a more or less month long sort of celebration around the mid year/winter solstice. I lived here for a long time, ten years or more without every hearing about it, but it’s been gaining in popularity. Not sure if it’s a greater acceptance of Maori cultureContinue reading “‘Tis Matariki!”
Train bits go all steampunk
I just love how these bits and pieces of the trains turned out. Something about them just cried out for maximum saturation and super sharpness. The response has not all been favourable – some folks really dislike this treatment. I really like it. Do you? This will be the boiler and firebox of a locomotiveContinue reading “Train bits go all steampunk”
