Falcon Flight

Another shot of the NZ falcon – soaring… Really, really fast – this was snapped at 1/8000th of a second. Trying to track and shoot something moving that fast was a bit of a challenge, but very satisfying.

Most of my flight images were pretty much rubbish. These birds fly at speeds up to 250 kilometres per hour, so catching them, focussing on them, is near impossible even with the new 70-200mm lens along with its 2x extender. And, full disclosure, I took this one into photoshop because the sky was nearly blown

Flock on the move

I have to say it’s damned hard to follow up my beautiful grazing sheep. But – it’s not a competition. And I rather like this overexposed flock of ducks on the run in the early morning hour. It was so still, the only thing I could hear was their wings.
