Oakley Creek Reflection 2 & 3

The more I look at these photos, the more I think Oakley Creek might be one of Auckland’s secret wonders… it manages to ramble through a lot of suburbia, yet I spotted only a couple of houses through the bush. It’s the perfect foil for a cerulean sky – the sort we get as a reward for having suffered through the endless dreary winter. I guess it’s worth it. What do you think? Here’s another take…

Gotta love a bridge in the middle of nowhere. It’s coming from nowhere and going to nowhere. It’s nowhere all around… but a rather nice place to be…

Limpid Pools

When I was a kid, I loved to go skinny dipping. Everything about it was tingly and exciting and made me feel so very alive and somehow naughty, though I couldn’t explain why… I had my places… I’d follow the creek, ours or someone else’s – sooner or later there’d always be a pool. And mostly they were conveniently tucked away where no one could see me. Places like this. And if they weren’t exactly like this, I would close my eyes and let my hair float around my head, let my arms and legs float free in the gently swirling waters and be transported anywhere my imagination wanted.
