Fading sign of human occupation

I am always happy when I see signs that nature is winning the small battles – at least for the moment… and, I suppose, in the end she’ll win it all, no matter how we struggle, though I am thinking, barring a last-minute Mayan coup, that we don’t have to hold our speci-al breath over that any time soon. (What IS the adjectival word relating to a species? There must be one…)

Found this decaying old postbox just down the road from me, the property behind it as inaccessible as Sleeping Beauty’s papa’s castle after she’d pricked her finger on the spindle. No reason for me to go poking in there – but no doubt some ambitious young man will sooner rather than later. And once again the struggle between man and nature renews itself.
