Sunset At Piha

with 2 comments

I love this and hate this… Love it because it is gorgeous, hate it because it’s so traditional, a completely standard ‘great sunset’ shot. Still, it’s a great sunset shot and I did take it myself, so I am not really complaining… he he… this is the same sunset at pretty much the same time of day as the impressionist sunset I put up yesterday. This one is further away from the water – and obviously is sharply in focus.

  1. Don’t hate something just because it seems trite. Each take is something new, and this is simply gorgeous.

    • Thank you. And I don’t disagree. But it’s one of those things that irks me – that this particular style of sunset is considered “the’ way to shoot a sunset. And in competition, it will always win over any other style. Like most things, there’s a clear and simple technique – use a wide angle lens and get you and/or your tripod down as low to the ground as possible.
