I have come to love impressionist photography… but then, impressionism is my favourite way of seeing things. I probably disliked Paris because the Musée d’Orsay was closed when I got there on a Tuesday morning, thereby depriving me of the opportunity to be in the presence of the Degas paintings that inspired my love of ballet (though they could not provide the talent that can’t possibly exist in a 5’6″ girl with size 10 feet, no matter how many hours I practised.)
Don’t know when or if I’ll ever get back there, but there’s a Degas to Dali exhibit touring from the Scottish National Gallery that is parked at the Auckland Art Gallery for the next couple of months that might soothe my longing…
Or, of course, I could make my own… This one is so very simple (not even a bird?!?) but I just love the colours and the glassiness of the waves. Hard to believe it’s a seriously ferocious surf beach. Hard to believe this is just a few miles down the road from me…

Thank you. It’s actually one of the most dangerous surf beaches in the world… I used to love being in the water there – but it finally got a bit too rough for me… sigh…

Beautiful~! It truly looks like you could walk on water. Amazing you can create a photo of what you envision; not just what is there in reality. The ballerina is still inside of you dancing in your photography 🙂

Thank you Ms Happy. This was so easy to do – Tonight I will run the version of the image without moving the camera. Literally, what I did was set a longish exposure time, 1/4 of a second and then moved the camera from side to side and clicked during the movement. I took a lot of shots, maybe 20-30 because it is kind of random. But when I get it right… I sure like how it turns out.
As for the ballerina comment – Thank you… I really like that.

If the Musee D’Orsay were closed when I finally made it to Paris, I think that I would sit down and weep. The Auckland exhibit sounds like a good one though.
