Auckland Sunset

with 3 comments

Apologies for putting two of these little globes up in a row, but I’ve had a bit of fun making them, experimenting with different types of subjects. Landscapes are the easiest to work with as long as you’ve got a bit of variety in the terrain. But anything that can be shot or cropped to a panoramic perspective will do the job…

This was shot off the MS Voledam as we returned to Auckland from our cruise last month… Rare for Auckland to have such brilliant skies!

  1. Like the color contrasts and the silhouettes…just can’t look at it too long. Love the way the sun glows from the side.

    • Dizzy-making, eh? I made like a dozen of these. Once I learned how, the technique itself is not that hard – but I think I’ve only seen them as cityscapes or landscapes (and I did make a few of those as well), I wanted to get out of that mode a bit, and the sunset seemed interesting. I decided to turn it so the sun was setting in the west, even though we always see it as being ‘on top’ of the horizon… It’s the kind of ‘wrong’ that just might work…

  2. I like it. A glowing orange.
