The Mermaid Returns

It was in Sopol, on the Polish shore that I spotted her, gingerly making her way back to the sea. As soon as the waters touched her feet she seemed to relax, to breathe more deeply and feel more free. In a moment, she could just dive in.

    • Thank you. This is one of my favourite photos – I think it was even before I actually saw it – watching this old woman was so very moving. I wanted to capture that moment.

  2. Aww that’s so sweet.

    • Thank you, Amy… I’m so glad I was able to share it this well. Funny how sometimes I am not sure if my images ‘work’ but not this time…

  5. You have a fantastic way of setting the scene & telling the story with very few words. What a beautiful thing!

  6. […] always loved this photo – it’s told me so many stories. (Here is one of them called The Mermaid Returns) I will always wonder what was playing in her mind and her heart as she stood there. Share […]

  7. You could put together a great picture book with these micro stories. I’d buy it for sure.
