Had the opportunity to photograph the Auckland Town Hall organ this past weekent. This was my favourite bit.

Coupla squirrel monkeys playing in a palm tree. I suppose Peanut the Monkey might have been more tolerable if he could have played in the trees year-round. But half the year he was stuck indoors… I wonder if I would like him more today if I ran into him again.

Went to the KareKare Beach Races on Saturday – horse racing on the beach. A refreshing change from the usual street fair and I got to meet some interesting characters. Loved these two ponies…

Bumper car

Rather like this shot of the bumper cars from the other night.

Not quite as fond of this one, but strangely, quite a few people loved it – so I thought I’d share it here… see if anyone else likes it. Hmmm… sorry for sounding grumpy… just didn’t get what I was expecting. And like pretty much everyone in the world – I find it hard to be dazzled by Brussels when I was expecting Paris…

Back in the day…

This mailbox contained letters from home, pictures, postcards, news. And sometimes free samples and stuff we ordered. And of course the telephone bill and the electric bill. And every time I opened it up, I had a sense of anticipation, a wee bit of hope, wonder. Even if most days there were no surprises, I loved that feeling.

Email and courier deliveries just aren’t the same. It’s not that I want to go back. Not really. It’s just that they have no soul… And this old box – it’s got soul to spare…
